Theadora is a multidisciplinary artist based in Bristol. She has studied at Byam Shaw, Central St Martins and is currently completing her Masters at the University of the West of England.
The familiar, the everyday yet the totally underestimated are at the forefront of Theadora’s practice. Through digital collage she combines layer upon layer of images to create surrealist and post-apocalyptic scenes following her pareidoliac instinct. Regularly seeing objects within objects or other architectural or infrastructural forms she strives to make these perceptions a reality through digital collage. Her work presents limitless possibilities, in which the traditional household object is re-scaled and re-developed projecting it’s full menace and potential.
Trusted associations with pre-digital aesthetics are an integral part to Theadora’s process. The digital edit is combined with traditional print to create what could be perceived as a trusted and believed artefact to escape the mistrust of common internet images and fake news. Specialising in both photoetching and screenprint Theadora plays with traditional print to create a deceptive authenticity and a post-digital aesthetic. The textures, marks and truthful nature of print ground her artworks in the narrative of today.
